چکیده :
اکنون نقش ورزش و فعالیتهای ورزشی از یک فعالیت بدنی یا نوعی تفریح و سرگرمی فراتر رفته و کارکردهای مختلف بهداشتی، اجتماعی، فرهنگی، اقتصادی، زیستمحیطی و مهمتر از آن سیاسی و بینالمللی پیدا کرده است. امروزه ورزش بهطور گسترده در سراسر جهان رواج یافته و اسناد بینالمللی جدید نیز بهنوعی به ورزش توجه کردهاند. بینالمللیشدن بسیاری از ورزشها موجب شده تا کشورها به رقابت ورزشی بینالمللی، میدان برای پیشبرد منافع ملی و تحقق اهداف سیاسی و بینالمللی خود توجه کنند. در این چارچوب است که مفهوم دیپلماسی ورزشی در کنار انواع دیپلماسیهای دیگر ظهور کرده است. این مقاله تلاش کرده است جایگاه و نقش ورزش را بهویژه در رویدادهای بزرگ ورزشی بینالمللی به منظور پیشبرد اهداف دیپلماتیک کشورها بررسی کند.
